I have always thought it a privilege to hear face-to-face about people’s resilience. The human spirit is amazing and everyone has stories to tell. I have been, and still am, interested in why people do the things they do.
This curiosity led me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Early Childhood Education through Excelsior College. I studied for my Masters degree in Community Counseling through the University of Phoenix. I completed an internship at Family Tree in Lakewood helping domestic violence victims from 2007-2008. Since then I have worked in community mental health serving varied populations in the Denver metro area. Most recently I was an adult outpatient clinician at Jefferson Center for 8 years. I am trained in CBT, DBT, and solution-focused therapy but tailor my interventions to the needs of the client. I have worked with people ages five through eighty.
My husband, a former Marine, and I are very proud of our three adult children and three grandchildren. When we are not cheering on the Broncos and the Rockies, we are spending time with our Basset hound. Sophie is currently in training to become a therapy dog and will be joining me in my mission to help others in the community.
